Latest Bridal/Wedding Salon Services

By Julie Ndagire
Brides and grooms need extra care and time pampering. Owing to the stress that comes with planning a wedding, there is need for pampering to look relaxed and healthy on the wedding day. Below is what you need to do.

Choose a convenient Salon
Irene Ditsi, the managing director of Nadia’s salon highlights the importance of choosing a salon six months before the wedding. This will enable you to familiarize yourself with the beauticians there so they can study you and know exactly what you need. “It will also give you enough to do trials of makeup, hairstyles and skin treatments in case the skin needs special care,” says Ditsi.

Facial Treatment
A facial treatment can guarantee your facial skin deep cleansing, exfoliation, and hydration which helps to unclog the pores and get rid of deep seated dirt and impurities that affect the overall health and appearance of your skin.

Your skin type determines whether or not you need a facial treatment, according to Diisi. If you need it then to have a time allowance before the wedding because at times the chemicals used may react and it will only need cleansing and toning. Go to a qualified beautician who will know your skin type and work on it accordingly.

Make up
A bride needs to try out the make-up at least a month before her wedding to make sure a beautician uses the proper shade for her skin.

Body mask and scrubs
Julie Tuhaise, a beautician at combing Attractions, advises brides and grooms to start on facial masks atleast a month to the wedding especially if you have not been applying them. “Since some skins are sensitive, one need to start on masks early enough soo that irritations can be controlled, Tuhaise advises.

A body mask helps in firming the skin while a body scrub removes the dead skin and toxins and makes the skin glow and bright. A bride should do the mask and scrub twice a week or month depending on the skin type and her budget.

Massage
A massage helps one’s muscles and body relax. Running up and down while organizing your wedding stresses you and therefore a massage to relax your muscles once a week will make you feel fresh.

Experts believe that your body releases a hormone that makes you happy called endorphin when you are in your most relaxed state.

Manicure and Pedicure
A foot scrub helps to soften the skin of the feet. Women need it more than men. Women wear open shoes most of the time which makes their feet hard. Men wear closed shoes often and may not need a foot scrub. “When you soak your feet in water do not over scrub them because you will be taking off both the wanted and unwanted skin which protects your feet and this may expose you to diseases. Just use a sponge at home or a very soft scrubber or pumice stone and then moisturize them.”
Diisi advises brides to do a French manicure because it looks smart and can match with any shoe and outfit.

How to Do Wedding Make-Up

By Julie Ndagire
For your make-up application, natural light is the best. If possible, set up an application table near a window.

Decide whether you’ll be having colour and or Black and white photography. For black and white, stay away from blue-red shades of make-up.

When choosing your lipstick, remember that lighter colours reflect more light which makes the lips seem bigger and does not look overpowering in photos. Colours that have to be avoided include bright pinks and reds.

Don’t get too trendy with your make up. You may think that sparkly eyeliner and gliter lipstick is a good idea today, but chances are you’ll look back at the pictures years from now and regret it.

Don’t skimp on blush. You don’t want to overdo it, but to avoid looking washed out you’ll need enough in your photographs.

Do try a test-run of what you’d like your make-up to look like on your wedding day a few weeks before the big event; don’t leave it until a few hours you walk down the aisle.

Wedding Make-up - Choosing Eye Shadow Colours

By Betty Amogin

Every bride automatically looks like a radiant princess on her big day, but there is no harm in taking Extra good care of your skin a few weeks before your wedding day.

Choosing Eye Shadow colours
Choosing eye shadow colours can be tricky because there are so many colours available. Pick hues based on your skin tone: Skin with yellow undertones calls for warm shades, cool hues go well with pink undertones, For your wedding, try shadows with a bit of shimmer. Like the eye shadow, your lipstick and blush colours should work well with your skin tone for a beautiful, harmonious bridal look.

Pinks and purples.
For brides who want a more vibrant colour choice, shadows in shades of purple and pink are beautiful options. These shades will particularly highlight brown eyes, while making the whites of the eye appear even clearer.

Grey, White, Black
Shades of grey appear sheer on the eye and complement light skin tones. They achieve an understated and elegant effect. Use of grey shadow on the lid, and to dot the centre of the lid, and a black shadow to line the eyes.

Pewters, Gold, Bronzes
Deep, metallic hues like these are a good choose for ladies with dark skin. For yellow undertones in skin, opt for golden hues on the lid; for red undertones, consider bronze shadows. On every dark skin, which may have a bluish cat try pewters. Use black or dark brown as a liner.

Blues
Blues are more playful than classic grays or neutrals, but when applied lightly, these hues are also quite appropriate for a wedding . If your skin is pale, you’ll want to choose icy shades; richer shades if your skin is dark.

How to do your make up on Your Wedding Day

On your wedding day, it is of utmost importance that you look prim and proper. Now you and i both know that applying make up isn't just a piece of cake. A couple of basics must be known, lest you look like an Indian doll( no offense) on your wedding day. We thought of a few tips that we hope will come in handy...
Finding Foundation
In general, foundation that has yellow undertones is the most flattering, but if you have very dark skin, a foundation with a slight blue cast works best. If you have medium-toned skin, choose a foundation with a red-yellow hue. And if you have light skin, look for a soft golden shade.

Pick Three
There may be variances in undertone on different parts of your face so it's a good idea to have three foundation shades -- light, medium, and dark -- on hand to allow for the different gradations of color. Many African-American women are darker across the brow and chin, and slightly lighter on the cheeks. Use the light foundation as your under-eye concealer and to lighten a dark forehead or chin area. Use the medium foundation as your all-over color to correct spots of varied pigmentation. Use the dark foundation to even out the lightest areas of your face. You can also experiment with a bronzing stick to bring down the lighter tones of your face.

Getting Cheeky
The key with blush is to avoid anything that looks ashy or pale on your skin. Lighter skin tones look pretty and most natural in dark bronzers, though apricot, rose, and soft pink also work well. Medium to dark skin tones look best with deep blush hues like dark rose, currant, and plum.

The lips
In general, the darker your skin tone, the darker you can go with your lip color. Burgundy and blackberry are beautiful on dark skin. Women with medium skin tones look pretty in currant or red, and those with light skin look best in low-voltage neutrals and glosses. If your bottom lip is paler than your top lip, you can even them out by applying a sheer, dark lipstick to your lower lip as a base, then sweeping the same lipstick over both lips.
If you want to have very full lips lips that don't require too much enhancement, avoid bright, attention-getting colors and stick to quiet, flattering shades instead, like caramel and soft brown. Perfect for kissing the groom!
